lauren and i have been looking forward to documenting danielle+joe’s wedding for over a year now. the wedding day finally came last month and it completely met our expectations. i’ve known joe for about 18 years, since the time when we traveled the halls of high school together. although our post graduation paths took us to opposite sides of the country, our core group of friends stayed strong. i spent some time in california while joe was making his mark in the big apple. it was super fun hanging out with everyone again on joe+danielle’s wedding day…

the ceremony was held at saint thomas church in danielle’s hometown of brigantine, nj. before heading over to the reception at the atlantic city country club, we took portraits at  joe’s parent’s house in his hometown of linwood, nj in honor of his amazing mother who recently passed away. a true lesson was learned that special day, that some things happen for a reason. everyone was a little thrown and disappointed by the unexpected brief period of rain that afternoon. although, if it wasn’t for that afternoon rain, i’m not really sure the heavens would have graced us with such a rare rainbow during sunset. after experiencing danielle+joe’s excitement over the rainbow and it’s symbolism of joe’s mother, i think it was worth every drop and was meant to be. it was a rainbow from heaven.

dinofact: tim played point guard for his high school basketball team (until he decided to surf everyday instead).  lauren was the pitcher for her high school softball team.

julia+pat planned the most ideal outdoor wedding at the dumbarton house in washington, dc.  except for one thing: they forgot to send mother nature an invite and she decided it would be a good day for a rain shower.  the call was made at the last minute to move the ceremony inside, probably to shelter all the guests from the rain and keep the girls hair from getting all frizzy.  a little water in the air definitely didn’t stop the bride and groom from venturing outside afterwards for their portrait session.  remember what i said above –  yeah, that’s right :  it was time to “make it work” and julia+pat did just that, in a big way.  you two rock!  i wouldn’t mind shooting every wedding from now on in the rain if i had troopers like the two of you.  plus, as you’ll see in the photos below, rainy days can often times equal = A-mazing light.  enjoy.
